Elevator Ride

Big Idea:   You have the data from 2001-2002 and you know you need $ from venture capitalist to build additional facilities.  You will be trying to talk to a venture capitalist as he gets off work at 8PM in the elevator as she leaves her office.

Instructions:
1.  Write a one-minute plan/script in your notebook answering the following two points:
  • Why demand, prices, and profit change over time (thus explain the chart and the pattern you see).
  • Predict revenue and profit for the next year
2.  Act this out on camera.  You have 1 minute.
  • 1-2 students can be acting out the explanation
  • 1 can play the role of the venture capitalist
  • 1 person films
3.  Share and play (no editing still)

Roles:

Facilitator:  Making sure the group is answering the 2 points

Harmonizer:  Getting consensus on what goes in the script and on camera

Resource:  Make sure what is said or how it is said and what visuals are used if any are used effectively to support the answers.

Reporter:  If you have one, they film.  If you do not, then it is up to you who films in the group.

Rule of 3:
  • Answering the 2 questions
  • Following the roles
  • Persuading (aka building a good case for the $)
Questions:
  • How much time do you have?  We will be showing it today.
