Social Science: Monday/Tuesday Assignment

BIG IDEA:  Purpose of the Food Court PBL is for you to show you understand demand

INSTRUCTIONS:

(1) Prepare a presentation addressing:

·       Select 5 restaurants

·       Back it up using sound economic thinking (assignments #95-108)

·       Get consensus from the school board (all three members)

·       5 minutes of maximum time

(2) Create a PowerPoint (must be completed in class on the Monday/Tuesday rotation)

·       1/3 rule per slide

·       Speaker notes

·       Title slide (reporter's role), Introduction (5 restaurants), Body (supports your decision), Conclusion (Main goal in selection of 5 restaurants, most important source (which assignment) and why

(3) Study #95-108 in preparation for the three questions at the end of the presentation

(4) Presentation is on the Tuesday/Wednesday rotation

ROLES:

·       Facilitator: Check for understanding (prepare group for questions); Lead group in completing the task; making sure all group members get the help they need

·       Harmonizer:  Get consensus ideas in group; make sure alternative suggestions are discussed

·       Resource manager:  Get the group to discuss the concepts, get the group to discuss why each restaurant and how it makes sense to the memos provided, 

·       Reporter:  Be on the computer and present the typical introduction

RULE OF 3:

·       Consensus

·       5 selected and backed up by sound economic thinking

·       PowerPoint requirements
