Friday Reminders
Great job all! Some significant accomplishments by the class of 2012:
1. Bring Purther's notebook to turn it in
2. Complete the Pentagon (something positive, questions, what worked, what didn't work, and finding value) by 8AM tomorrow. Write out your responses and expect to show your committee teacher your completed work on the pentagon at 8AM tomorrow.
3. Bring your Secret Santa gift
4. Bring your food obligation (West: Bring $6 if you haven't)
- Effective use of statistics in speech and deliberation
- Effective use of the following rules (register a compliant, point of order, motion to divide, motion to amend, con on the motion to previous questions)
- All four chairs did a great job in managing proceedings, calling out repeated questions and using the dilatory power. Dilatory was used at 7 effective parts of the proceedings today. I haven't seen this used so well in my prior experience. Great job too in sharing power and giving all an opportunity to be part of managing proceedings.
- A number of good speeches and a number of good questions in response
- Some solid research responses from many individuals
- Great job in keeping everything organized and moving in things like the vote counting, movement of motions, and in general information back and forth

Adopt-a-Family Delivery
Great job all! Everything had to be put together so fast to meet the December 10th delivery deadline. Thanks to Karen & Jackie (and Stephanie) for the organization and delivery parts, the shoppers (Elissa, Jazmin, Andrea and others), folks who wrapped (Jazmin, Andrea, Esther, Carissa, Nikki, Ariel, Will, Carly, Stephanie, 2 juniors, and others) the house leaders in collecting the donations (Jazmin, Andrea, Elissa, Diana, Shannon, Alec, Emmanuel, Christa). And thanks to all of you for contributing, including the staff and a few folks outside of iPoly!
We gave the three children lots of clothes, toys, and some other things. We gave the mom a gift card to target, a grocery store gift card, a wallet and an emergency flashlight for the home. We also gave them a Christmas tree.
We delivered on Saturday. It turned out to be about a 3-hour event. Jackie (12) and Stephanie (11) did a great job representing the classes (and others who gave) during the event.
The older son did not attend. The younger son was very happy with his toys. The mom was very happy. She expressed her thanks to the 11th and 12th grade classes. And the daughter had said she really liked clothes picked out for her.

December 16 Exit Interview: What do you need to prepare for?
For the exit, consider:
(1) Something positive you did
(2) Question to Consider:
How can we as legislators help our district (city) understand the legislative process, so that we get legislation passed that promotes our goals?
How were you voting on bills? Politico, Partisan, Trustee, or Delegate and why?
(3) What worked for you (all Model Assembly)
(4) What didn’t work for you (all Model Assembly)
(5) Finding Value (connecting what you did to the School Mission)
Graduates will:
•Apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired to solve problems.
•Be lifelong learners who adapt to an ever-changing world by viewing society from multiple perspectives, and will have learned the global significance of a variety of events and disciplines.
•Have learned to mediate and reach solutions using research, knowledge, and critical thinking.
•Have learned how to communicate in a variety of ways, including formal and informal presentations, by teaching lessons, and writing papers.
•Be able to collaboratively reach individual and group-related goals, have clarified their personal values, and developed a sense of community.
•Be able to identify, explain, and apply universal concepts and will have acquired the knowledge and skills to responsibly and effectively use technology.
